Class A2 Fire-Rated Cavity Insulation

Limited-combustibility, Class A2 fire-rated insulation for new and refurbished cavity walls — including high-rise buildings above 18 metres.

Why it matters

When fire breaks out, unprotected cavity walls can act as a hidden chimney, letting flames and smoke spread rapidly between floors and units. Building Regulations now require limited-combustibility materials in the external walls of buildings over 18 m, with rising fire-performance expectations across all cavity-wall construction. Standard combustible foam insulation cannot meet these obligations.

Firetite — limited combustibility

Firetite combines a hydrophobic mineral insulation (~90% inorganic) with a fast, seamless, self-sealing foam process. Classified A2-s1,d0, it delivers limited-combustibility fire performance without sacrificing airtightness or installation speed. Injected in a single continuous operation, it fills irregular voids completely and bonds to the wall leaves for a durable, gap-free barrier — suitable for new build and refurbishment, including residential buildings above 18 m. Certification and system approvals are available from Econ Building Products on request.
